Johnny Christ was born November 18, 1984 in Huntington Beach, California, his real name is Jonathan Lewis Seward and he's the current bassist of Avenged Sevenfold he join the band in 2003.

Seward didn't attended the same high school as the other members despite that Johnny already knew The Rev and Synyster Gates and initially he took a few weeks off from high school during his senior year to fill in for Avenged Sevenfold's previous bassist, Dameon Ash, during one of their tours and the band members liked him so they decided to keep him as a permanent member.

Jonathan's stage name (Johnny Christ) was the idea of Zacky Vengeance during a tour while Jonathan used to write only Johnny on his autographs and in All Excess DVD he commented  :

"That sounds... really ballsy. Everyone's gonna hate that, so... I should definitely go with that."
