Avenged Sevenfold is a Metal band from Huntington Beach, California formed in 1999 by five members : M.Shadows, Zacky Vengeance, The Rev, Synyster Gates, Matt Wendt (Bassist) , after a year and half he was changed by Justin Sane (Bassist) he also stayed with the band for only one year after his attempt to suicide during a tour with the band, Dameon Ash (Bassist) came to take his place for a half year and then he was replaced by the current bassist Johnny Christ.

The name of the band came up by M.Shadows as a reference to the story of Cain and Abel from The Bible. A7X is the short name of the band and it was the idea of Zacky Vengeance.

Avenged Sevenfold are known by there unique style of music and performances, they have worked with Warner Bros., Hopeless, Good Life and currently are signed with Capitol Records.

In 28/12/2009 the former drummer The Rev died while they were working on the Nightmare album. Despite his death the band didn't want to stop there career or something like that so they asked Mike Portnoy to help them to finish the album.

In 2011 Arin Ilejay was announced as the new official drummer of the band after replacing Mike Portnoy that was a temporary member as well replacing The Rev. But in July 2015 the band announced on their website that they would part ways with Arin , due to "creative differences".

On November 4, 2015, the band announced that Brooks Wackerman would replace Arin Ilejay as the drummer for Avenged Sevenfold.

Avenged Sevenfold has debuted on the top spot of the Billboard 200 in 2010 after releasing the Nightmare album and in 2013 Hail to the King Album charted as #1 on the US Billboard 200, the UK albums chart, as well as the Finnish, Brazilian, Canadian, and Irish charts. In 2006 they won the Golden God Awards: Best International Band and MTV Music Awards: Best New Artist, in 2008 they won the Kerrang! Awards: Album of the Year, in 2011 they won the Golden God Awards: Album of the Year (Nightmare), in 2012 they won the Golden God Awards: Most Dedicated Fans and Best Live Band, also in 2014 they won the Golden God Awards: Most Dedicated Fans.
